A brave little girl stood watching the house
Waiting for horrid Miss Modge to come out.
Because of the ring she now clasped in her hand:
The ring that she'd secretly snuck out the house.
The ring! It had glistened so pretty and bright!
It sparkled and shone as it lay in the light.
The horrid old woman could not understand.
That ring could not belong to Modge. 'Twas too bright.
Before she could see the old hag at the door
A lurch in her hand made her trip to the floor.
Before she could squeal, she felt in her hand,
The pretty ring growing – look there, at the door!
Old Miss Modge! Reaching out the threshold!
Her face all deformed with her rage, oh, so old!
This theft, thought the girl, was not going as planned
As she watched Miss Modge edging out of the threshold.
Suddenly, Modge was trapped – most ancient of spells!
What was that? The woman was growing as well!
And now, the ring reaching the size of her hand,
The brave little girl watched Modge grow with the spell.

Flames lick over ink imitating life,
Swirling lies into chaos.
My chaotic secret, this awful lie
This face is a mask I cannot hide.
